_Winding its way across the border lands, the Tweed is a restful and scenic river to spend time beside. Famous worldwide for its excellent salmon fishing, it also attracts those who simply want to walk along its beautiful, tree-lined banks or explore the many historic castles, towers and ancient houses that abound in this area.

Bikers will find Haymount a secure and central base from which to explore. Garage accommodation is available for several bicycles and motorbikes, so why not return after a day's touring to enjoy a shower or soak in a hot bath before wandering down to our excellent local pub for a meal and a drink?

_Haymount was built in 1784 and has been carefully modernised to present a warm and cosy, clean and bright Bed and Breakfast, with fine views of the Cheviots and the River Tweed just a few minutes’ walk away. We have two bedrooms, both en suite – one with a bath/shower and one with shower.  Each room has tea and coffee making facilities, TV and hairdryer.  There’s also a cosy guest lounge to relax in after a busy day.  For more photographs, please see our Gallery.

We can offer garage parking for one car or motor bikes and bicycles, with more parking available just a few yards away.  Two doors away is The Fishermans Arms where you can enjoy a good choice of lunches or dinners.

_Located between the historic towns of Coldstream and Kelso, Birgham offers an ideal base for touring the historic Scottish Borders, Lindisfarne and the Northumberland Coast, as well as many other tourist attractions. Melrose, with its beautiful river and abbey, is nearby and Birgham is also a great base from which to visit Edinburgh without the hassle of driving and parking: trains from Berwick-upon-Tweed are frequent and take you right to the heart of the city.
